Quarterfinals (I): the GOAT against the post 73-9 Warriors

So it's quarterfinales time! Today I bring you 2 of the 4 series that will decide the semifinals teams. Out of the 248 teams that began the competition, 8 have fought for a spot among the 4 best in History. Get ready for History: Michael Jordan ready to troll Klay Thompson as for some reason 2k decided the game was going to be played in Bobcats' court. (1) 1997 Chicago Bulls - (9) 2017 Golden State Warriors Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen had already had difficulties in the past series. After sending the James Harden's Rockets home in game 7, one of the franchises that has entered the discussion as legit competitors for the "best team in history" awaited for them. The basis of the team that earned 6 rings from 1991 to 1998 faced the one that won 3 from 2015 to 2018.  And the series should have been closer. In Game 1, the Bulls seemed quite superior to the Warriors. Pippen saw the light as he scored 47 points, making MJ look like a complement rather than the best...

Sweet Sixteen (II): History has no King

At the other side of the bracket, competition goes merciless. The best teams in there play no games with those becoming an obstacle in their way to greatness.  And LeBron has been victimized. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar  shoots over Chris Bosh Miami's super team has not been good enough to avoid defeat. Moreover, they were defeated in the worst way possible: getting swept. The author of this magnicide was no other than the 85' Lakers, leaded by two guys that are part of NBA history: Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Kabbar. The gold and purple team beats therefore LeBron, Wade, and Bosh; and gets them out of GOAT conversation. So now that they move to the next round... who are they waiting for? The couldn't miss an opportunity like this. That is not in their DNA. Lakers will meet the 07' Spurs in tournament quarterfinals. The Popovic-coached franchise beat Reggie Miller and his 98' Pacers in 7 games, after a dramatic series. Despite being up 3-2, Indiana lost its match ball op...

Sweet Sixteen (I): Warriors & Bulls escape madness in 7 games

After all the season, this is when things get really serious. Teams were now heading to a traditional playoff competition. Only 16 remained from the original 248, so that being considered, it wasn't rare to think that every series would be tough and long. And so they were. Looking at the first side of the bracket, that was simply true: 3 out the 4 series reached game 7 (the other one was Reggie Miller rolling over an underdog 02' Sacramento Kings, to whom we pay respect for making this far and lifting the name of a disregarded franchise).  Michael Jordan scoring on Trevor Ariza, as the 15' Rockets push to Game 7 (1) 1997 Chicago Bulls 4-3 (16) 2015 Houston Rockets They tried so hard... But in the end, it didn't really matter. Houston, lead by James Harden and Dwight Howard, made a big shock in the championship after beating Michael Jordan and his Bulls in Game 1.  The Beard scored 27 points while MJ struggled to make 14. After three more games, the series were tied 2-2....
